She came to me in violent waves. I still climbed in, in excitement, hoping for some change
‘cuz her eyes were wide and safe. Tongue tied in awe, I stood and gazed.
She spoke to freeze and my silence stayed. “We could try it out tonight if you’d just stay awake”
Then the lights began to fade and we filed out into the haze.
We knew that we were not the same. We were chosen, indisposed, and hopeless all the same.
The lines were tired and fake when we’d bare it all on lonely days.
What came to be, it still remains. I remember that December when we lost our way
and the bright became the shade. We wandered down into the maze.
So now we wait for our mistake to pass us by ‘cuz we sculpted lives that couldn’t help but break.
Who holds onto the wrong? Who holds hope ‘till it’s gone when everything’s grey?
Who’s been putting it on? Who’s been pawning it off when everything’s grey?
We couldn’t rely on our hearts design. We did try to in denial hiding from the pain.
Our minds, they pushed the blame. We’re done fighting now. We walked away.
Now I wake the same most everyday. I’m still hiding intertwined inside of yesterday
when the nights could spark a blaze and I wonder now; should we have stayed?
But now we wait for our mistakes to pass us by ‘cuz we sculpted lives that couldn’t help but break.
When the truth pours out and I bleed
When the silence drowns so you scream
We build some walls until everything’s grey.
